story behind the photo
photographed Diving In at the Kingsland Hotel diving pier on Lake LBJ while working on a story for Heartland USA magazine. The moment I saw this scene, it stopped me. The water was calm, the ladder perfectly centered, and everything about it felt like an invitation. It made me want to step out of my shoes and jump straight in. Every time I look at this image, it pulls me back to my youth, swimming in rivers and lakes, starting the day in the water before the world had a chance to get loud. That feeling has never really left me. Even now, when I head to the lake in the early morning, the draw is the same. There is something deeply grounding about water, especially when it is still, quiet, and waiting. For me, this photograph represents peace, the kind that does not rush you or demand anything from you. It simply invites you in. It reminds me of the peace the Lord offers us when we choose to step away from the noise and trust Him with the weight we carry.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”-John 14:27
PRINT PROCESS & AVAILABILITY
Diving In is offered as a pigmented ink print, produced using archival pigment inks on fine art paper. This printing method is known for its exceptional color fidelity, smooth tonal transitions, and long term stability. The pigmented inks allow for subtle detail in the water and a quiet richness in the wood and metal elements of the pier, preserving the calm, inviting character of the scene. Each print is carefully produced to ensure consistency and accuracy, reflecting the original photograph as it was seen and felt at the moment of capture. Pigmented ink prints are widely regarded for their permanence and are suitable for long term display in both private and institutional collections. This image is available in a limited edition of 35, printed at 12 x 22 inches. Each print is signed, titled, and numbered by the artist. Once the edition is complete, no additional prints of this size and process will be produced.
